Botox is injected into the underlying muscle and gradually weakens this muscle until it can no longer cause the line to be made. The effect takes up to a week to work. Because of this, Botox is mostly suitable to eradicate expression lines that you would not miss, such as frown lines and forehead lines. Crows feet are reduced because, although you can still smile normally, your eyes will not crinkle up so much at the edges when you do smile.

As with fillers, the effect of Botox wears off in a few months and has to be repeated. The more often you have it, the more you get used to not using that particular muscle and the longer the effect will last. Initially, treatments are needed every three to four months but eventually you will be able to go longer between treatments.

Botox takes only a minute or two to administer and you could go back to work immediately afterwards. There is minimal discomfort.
